Chess clubs in Jakarta and Jabodetabek 33

A chess club in Greater Jakarta usually has a basecamp rather than a clubhouse: a room at a member’s home, a shophouse corner or a neighbourhood hall that the tournament listings print as “basecamp” or “markas”. Most clubs are known through the rounds they post on the tournament database. Kembang Kerep Chess Club in Kembangan, West Jakarta, has numbered its relaxed “Ngeround Santai” rounds past the fortieth, and DJCC in Bekasi plays a Saturday-night round.

Depok has the largest group: Benteng Remaja Mampang with its junior BRM Cup, Limo Chess Club in Meruyung, Bojongsari Baru, Benteng Pesona Muda in Cilangkap, BDN and Agape in Tapos. In Ciputat and Pamulang, Pion Sruntul plays at Taman Jajan Pring Kuning and Benteng Kopi Pojok at a shophouse in Bukit Nusa Indah. LAPANJO and Gaperi hold monthly and junior events in Bojonggede, Chess Mania plays in Koja, and the ITSB club runs a quarterly league high up in a Thamrin office tower.
