Junior chess across Greater Jakarta 19

Young players have more events to choose from in Greater Jakarta than adults do. Malls carry much of the load: Tamini Square in East Jakarta hosts primary-school categories of rapid tournaments, Summarecon Digital Centre in Gading Serpong holds fun events for children with the local school of Sekolah Catur Utut Adianto, and ITC Cempaka Mas and Lippo Mall Cikarang add more, as does the KCCCI group with a junior tournament at Mall Kalibata City.

Two series are built for pupils: Pelajar Hebat, a national student tournament with primary-school sections at Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua, and the JAPFA Chess Festival, whose 2026 rounds the tournament database places in Megamendung, Bogor Regency, though a radio report has the festival closing in Senayan. Many clubs also run age-group events, from the junior cups of Depok clubs to the league of Jayakarta Muda, which plays at Tamini Square and the KONI building.
